Masala dosa

Masala dosa is one of the popular South Indian food dosa. And most popular all over the India.
It is made from rice, potato, methi, and served with coconut and groundnut chutneys and sambar.
Though it was only popular in South India, it can be found in all other parts of the country and overseas.
So I made this beautiful mouth-watering dish. you can also cook this easy recipe by following this instruction below.

 

Ingredients for Masala Dosa

For Dosa Batter

3 cups-Basmati Rice – 3 cups
1 cup-Urad dal (without cover) –
1 teaspoon-Fenugreek seeds(kasuri methi)
3/4 teaspoon -baking soda
Salt according to you
Oil for cook Dosa

Spices for Masala Dosa 

400gram – Potatoes
1 small bowl – Peas (peeled)
2 tablespoon- Oil
1 tablespoon- Rie
1/4 teaspoon- Turmeric powder
1 teaspoon – Coriander powder
2-3-  Green chillies chopped
1 1/2- Ginger (grated)
3/4 teaspoon-Salt according to your taste
1/4 teaspoon- Amchur powder (mango powder)
Red chilly powder according to your taste
2 tablespoon- coriander leaves chopped

Method to make masala dosa

Firstly Clean Urad dal and fenugreek seeds(methi) wash them properly then soak them in water for at least 4 hours or the entire night. according to me soak for the entire night is the better option.
Then Clean basmati rice and wash them properly and soak it in a different bowl for the 4 hours or for the entire night.

Now we have to remove water from the soaked urad dal. Then grind into mixer Urad dal-fenugreek Methi with little water to make a fine paste then put it into a bowl.
Now using very less water grind the rice into the mixer, but make a bit thicker paste. Now we have to Mix both pastes together well and prepare a thick mix which when poured with a spoon does not fall freely
it should little bit thick.

Then add salt according to your taste and baking soda to the mixture allowing it to ferment, cover and keep aside for at least 8 hours. This mixture is ready to make Dosa.

Prepare to spices for Dosa

Firstly Boil potatoes, cool them and then peel and cut them into small pieces.
Now put a fry pan on a gas burner and add oil and heat it, now put Rie in hot oil and roast until it pops.

Now we have to add turmeric powder, coriander powder, green chillies, ginger and fry it for at least 1 minutes.
Then add peas and 2 tablespoons of water then cover the pan and cook till peas turn soft. Now put cut pieces of potatoes, salt, Amchur powder, red chilly powder and other spices fry at least for 2 minutes.
Now Turn off the gas then mix coriander to the fried spices. Stuffing is ready for dosa.

Stir the mixture with a spoon, if it seems too thick then add some water.
Now put non-sticky pan or tawa on the gas burner for making dosa.

Now we have to grease the pan with little oil then
Pour a big spoon full of mixture in the middle of the pan now move the spoon in round way as you spread a thin layer of Dosa on the pan. now pour a little bit of oil around the dosa.

Then Cook Dosa on a medium flame until it became slightly brown in colour.
Now we have to place the 1-2 spoon of potato with spices on the Dosa and spread it all over with gently.

Now using a long-handled spoon hold Dosa from the edges and fold it now take it out of the pan and place on a plate.
Your masala dosa is ready to serve. serve it with sambhar, coconut chutney or groundnut chutney.
